About Us, What We Do Differently & Our Values Code

A Mission to Support Authentically Adults with Learning Difficulties

With a mission to reduce the isolation and segregation experienced by people with learning disabilities and their families in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Yorkshire, we help them live life their way and to experience all the benefits that flow from richer and wider relationships: genuine safety, affection and growth, led through real relationships and through creative expression.  We can work with you to more fully engage the one for whom you care.

Through creativity there are magical times were we witness the mask of a disability slip just a little ~

A Values Code Fully Aligned with Integration & Growth

Many people with a learning disability have lives that stand still. The pattern of their activities and relationships, often not chosen by them, remains narrow and unchanged over decades. A full life with happy, memorable moments and a variety of challenges is our objective.

Connections that Count

People with a learning disability often lack a network of people who might provide aid and support at times of difficulty. The ice under their feet is thin. Relationships – their depth and variety - are what keep us genuinely safe and genuinely independent. We support people to stand on the firm ground provided by relationships built up over a lifetime. Our goal is having real people around who aren’t paid to care, they just do.

Everyone Contributes

People with a learning disability are defined by what they need, rather than by what they can offer. To make change possible we need to believe in each person’s capacity to contribute and offer something that adds value to others around them, both tangible and spiritual. We all have things we can’t do and some things we can. Look beyond the "first glance" and you will see a wealth of abilities and talents behind a real personality. Our goal is to help build two-way relationships where each offers something of value to the other.

Social Services Quality Assurance

(including outreach toThe East Riding)

Scarborough & North Yorkshire

Creative Day Care is a Registered Provider of Non-Regulated Day Care provision for Hull City Council and North Yorkshire County Council, procured as a contracted service to Social Service departments.  We are registered upon these provider frameworks and can receive direct payments for services through them.  Our pricing is highly-competitive whilst client value we are measuring highly.  Personal Budgets and private payments are also accepted.

Within the non-regulated provider category, our service is outside of the purview of CQC regulatory monitoring (the Care Quality Commission in fact provides independent oversight for other health and social care categories - just not the one we are in):

Instead, as an independent provider of care-related services, we aim to set the standard above that required of regulated providers, to which end Creative Day Care has staff dedicated to Quality Assurance and ensuring alignment with council-derived Quality Assurance Frameworks, and other recognised QA systems.

Creative Day Care focuses on members with mild to severe learning, physical, and intellectual disabilities that can manage their own hygiene needs (otherwise require external PA support): members are best suited where their needs are real yet uncomplex, yet find formal programmes or training environments overly structured.  It’s a ‘gap in the market’ that requires fulfilling expression-filled days with higher social and community engagement.

We encourage Social Service departments, care providers and others to contact us to determine ways in which we can build your local care provision, through consultancy, day care, and supported holiday services.
